Important Dates:

5/6 – 5/8: Book Fair

5/12: Spring Concert

5/14: Late Start @ 9:40am

5/16: All library books due

5/26: Memorial Day – No School

5/30: Celebrate Success Day

Notes:

-Spring Concert: Our Grove Spring Concert is this upcoming Monday, May 12th. Students will need their recorders at school on this day and will need to bring them home and to the concert at night. For the concert, they should bring the recorder only and leave the case with a parent or in the car/at home. I will remind the class about this on Monday as well.

-Biography Presentations: THANK YOU to all the parents and family members who joined us for the biography presentations. Thank you for helping your child create a costume and practice their speech. The students did a fantastic job and it was a great learning experience!

-Grove School Supply Kits: Order forms were sent home (1 per family) and can be submitted until June 2nd. This is a great way to get all of your child’s school supply shopping done before the end of the school year!

Learning Targets:

Math:

-I can identify and name obtuse, right, and acute angles.

-I can describe the characteristics of quadrilaterals.

-I can identify polygons based on the given number of sides.

Reading:

-I can analyze the features of a non-fiction text.

Writing:

-I can conduct and analyze research to support my opinion.

-I can convey my opinion in an editorial writing piece.

Science:

-I can describe the Earth’s rotation on its axis and its revolution around the sun.

-I can identify and describe the phases of the moon.

Social Studies:

-I can identify the states and capitals of the Southwest region.

-I can describe the geography and climate of the Southwest region.
