I hope you and your family had a wonderful, relaxing Thanksgiving!

Social Studies: The students will take their Northeast states and capitals test on Thursday. They will be given a blank map to label the name of each state. They will also have to write the capital for each state. They will NOT need to identify the location of each capital or write the state’s abbreviation. There is a link on the homepage of the website that has a practice activity to identify the states.

Math: This week we began learning 2-digit x 2-digit multiplication using the traditional method and we will also learn it using the lattice method. This can be a challenging skill for students who do not know their multiplication facts and/or have trouble writing numbers with proper spacing. This week for IXL, please have your child use a paper and pencil to complete the problem before submitting the answer (the paper does not need to be turned in). If they are not yet comfortable with 2-digit multiplication, please have them try a few problems and then practice another skill until they have had more exposure to the topic throughout the week. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns about this.

HERO Binder: On Friday your child will bring home their HERO binder and reader’s notebook. The binder houses students’ data, goals, math tests, spelling tests, etc. The reader’s notebook holds weekly reading responses and graded rubrics. Please review these materials with your child and complete the reflection activity that will be in the binder’s front pocket.
